Rockwood Purpose

The purpose of Rockwood Church is to worship the one true God, to preach and teach the full gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, to provide spiritual care and fellowship for Christian believers and to do everything in its power to fulfill the Great Commission.

The mandate of Rockwood Church is to preach a King, a cross, a brand new life. Jesus as King. His death and burial as an atonement for the sins of man. His resurrection as a means to a brand new life for all who believe on His name and name Him Lord of their lives.

The three core values of Rockwood Church is contained in three statements; living faith, loving families, lasting friendships. A living faith that sees God at work in everyday life – an everyday Jesus. Loving families that are strong in the Lord’s grace and strong in their bond. Lasting friendships forged over a lifetime of worship, work, and a shared commonality in fellowship and life experience.

Every ministry and activity of Rockwood Church will be governed by at least one of these core values, while never conflicting with the others. Every ministry and activity will demonstrate a commitment to excellence and will be relevant to contemporary culture.

Rockwood Beliefs

  1. We believe in one God, Creator of heaven and earth, who eternally exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  2. We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God, infallible in the original manuscripts, and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, the only Savior of he world, in His Deity, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious death, burial, bodily resurrection, ascension, intercession, Lordship, and in His personal, viable, premillennial return in power and great glory.
  4. We believe that all men are separated from God because of sin and can only be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
  5. We believe in the present-day outpouring and infilling of the Holy Spirit to equip the believer with gifts for service and to empower him to live a life of complete victory in obedience to the Word of God.
  6. We believe that the church is a living organism made up of born-again believers who are submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and joined together by the Holy Spirit.
  7. We believe in baptism by immersion following repentance and conversion. We believe in observance of the Lord’s supper and in open communion for all born-again believers
  8. We believe in the resurrection and final judgment of the dead before the throne of God: that the saved will be raised to spend eternity in heaven and the lost to spend eternity in hell and the lake of fire.
  9. We believe that every Christian has a responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission.
  10. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord of heaven and earth, and in the ultimate triumph and eternal reign of His Kingdom.
